Dress Code
GADA does not enforce strict color requirements for younger dancers but does require specific attire based on class type. Proper dance attire ensures safety and allows instructors to observe alignment and technique.
Ballet
Tan tights, any black leotard, hair pulled up in bun or braid.
Tap
Black tap shoes (transition to oxford tap shoes at higher levels).
Jazz
Any color leotard, shorts or leggings (tights optional), tan jazz shoes.
Hip Hop
Comfortable clothing, hip-hop sneakers (studio-only use required).
Contemporary
Dance pants, form-fitting tank or t-shirt, tan jazz shoes (may be barefoot or turners).
Acro
Form-fitting clothing (no loose fabric), bare feet.
Musical Theater
Activewear and tan jazz shoes.
- Level 3/4 Musical Theater: Activewear and tan character heels.
- Level 3 Musical Theater: Activewear and tan character heels.
- Level 4 Musical Theater: Activewear and tan character heels.
Littles
Tights, leotard, pink ballet shoes (skirts are fine). Boys: black ballet shoes. Creative Movement 2, Ballet/Tap Combo 1 and Ballet/Tap Combo 2 require black tap shoes.
- Ballet-Tap Combo: Tights, leotard (any color), black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes. Boys: black shoes.
- Ballet-Tap Combo 1: Tights, leotard (any color), black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes. Boys: black shoes.
- Ballet-Tap Combo 2: Tights, leotard (any color), black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes. Boys: black shoes.
- Creative Movement: Tights, leotard (any color), black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes. Boys: black shoes.
- Creative Movement 2: Tights, leotard (any color), black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes. Boys: black shoes.
Boys, All Styles
Black pants or athletic shorts, white t-shirt. Black ballet shoes, black jazz shoes, or lace-up black tap shoes.
General Rules
- No street shoes on studio floors.
- Hair must be secured away from face.
