SUMMER CAMPS
and CLASSES!
Ballet/Tap Combo

These classes are one hour in length and designed for 5-6 year
olds.  The class is split between ballet and tap.  While this level
begins a more formal training than creative movement,
emphasizing technique, body alignment, rhythm and flexibility, it
still appeals to children through the use of fun music and creative
teaching methods.

  • Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo– These classes are one and a half hours in length and designed
for 7-10 year olds.  Each class includes ballet, tap, and an introduction to jazz dance.
Emphasis on technique, body alignment, rhythm and flexibility continues to develop at this
    level.

  • Musical Theater – These classes are one hour in length and emphasize theatrical dance,
as well as singing and acting techniques and games.  Production numbers/scenes are
learned in class and performed each month for observers.

  • Drill Team Prep – These classes are one hour in length and designed for ages 10+ who
have an interest in being on their school drill/dance teams.  Emphasis is placed on
developing technique and flexibility while also teaching different types of routines, audition
    techniques, poise and showmanship.

  • Hip-Hop - This hour long class revolves around a contemporary style of street dance.

  • Lyrical - This hour long class combines the techniques of ballet and jazz to create a
smooth, contemporary style of dancing.  Technique, exercises, and combinations are
    reviewed weekly.

  • Advanced Combo Greater Austin Dance Academy believes that the best dancers are
well-rounded dancers.  Therefore, these classes are designed for the serious dancers
ages 10+.  Within the two and a half hour class (advanced level is three and a half hours),
classes are taught in ballet, tap, and jazz.  Students must be placed by the director in
these classes.  Please see/call director for questions about placement.

  • Extra Ballet - This artistic dance form is characterized by grace and precision of
movement and an elaborate formal technique.  Developing body alignment, posture,
working flexibility, strength and coordinating movement are all stressed at this time. Ballet
is the core upon which all other dance forms are built.  Therefore, students wishing to take
jazz classes or be in the company MUST be enrolled in at least one ballet class each
week.  Students wishing to be on Pointe MUST take at least TWO ballet classes per
week.  The extra ballet class is an hour and a half in length.

  • Pointe - This subject is an extension of ballet for intermediate to advanced dancers.
Pointe class must be taken in conjunction with TWO ballet classes.  It is an hour in length.
